Promoting cross-border religious tourism at the Prayagraj Mahakumb Mela

The Maha Kumbh Mela, a religious event held annually in Prayagraj, India, attracts over 10 million people to take a holy dip at the confluence of the Ganges, Yamuna, and Saraswati rivers. The Uttar Pradesh Department of Tourism estimates 450 million pilgrims will visit the fair, with hundreds of thousands from India and Nepal. Security measures have been put in place, with over 25,000 security personnel deployed, temporary tent houses constructed, and over 25,000 CCTV cameras installed. The Ministry of Culture of India has also developed science and technology for the fair, with over 100 million people taking holy baths so far. The fair is a blend of spirituality and innovation, with high-tech security measures, digital land allocations, and immersive virtual reality experiences.
