Canada’s Liberal Party Wins Election

Mark Carney’s Liberal Party has won the Canadian general election. Addressing his supporters after the victory, Carney took aim at US President Donald Trump. Prime Minister Carney said, “President Trump is trying to break us up so that America can dominate us – that will never happen.”

He added, “Our old relationship with America is now over.” We have overcome the trauma of American betrayal, we must take care of each other.” Trump has continued to threaten Canada with a trade war and has also talked about making Canada the 51st state of the United States.

Meanwhile, the New Democratic Party (NDP) has suffered a major defeat. After the defeat, leader Jagmeet Singh has announced that he will resign as party leader. Addressing his supporters, Jagmeet Singh said, “This is a night of disappointment for the New Democrats.”

The NDP’s performance in the Canadian general election has been disappointing. It is said that it may be limited to only eight seats in the election. In Canada, parties need at least 12 seats to gain party status in the House of Commons.
