Government spokesperson says – TU cricket ground will not be demolished

Government spokesperson Sasmit Pokharel has clarified that the Tribhuvan University cricket ground will not be demolished.

Pokharel, who is also the Minister of Education, made it clear that the Tribhuvan University cricket ground will not be demolished while making public the decision of the Council of Ministers meeting on Monday. He also mentioned that discussions were held with the Tribhuvan University Vice-Chancellor on Monday morning and informed that coordination is being done to extend the lease period.

The Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) had leased the land of Tribhuvan University and built an international-level cricket ground.

However, when Tribhuvan University asked to vacate the land saying that the lease period had expired, concerns were raised publicly whether the ground would be demolished. However, with the latest clarification from the government, the Tribhuvan University cricket ground will remain intact.
