The French right is focusing on immigration in their European election campaign

Marine Le Pen, the French far-right leader, has promised to recapture authority from the Brussels bureaucracy, laying the groundwork for her party’s European Parliament election campaign. Le Pen denounced the European Union’s restrictions on traditional combustion engine automobiles and environmental rules, calling on states to reclaim the power the EU has taken away from them. RN, commonly known as National Rally, is likely to be the most popular French party in the June election, maybe winning a higher share of the vote.
Jordan Bardella, head of the Rassemblement National party, combined his criticism of Brussels with a commitment to steer the EU toward the party’s objectives. He invited Fabrice Leggeri, the former head of the EU border agency Frontex, to join the RN party. A strong victory for RN would put Macron in a difficult position domestically, as he seeks to prevent Le Pen from succeeding him once his current mandate ends in 2027.
