Israel plans its largest water desalination plant

Israel has awarded a tender to build its largest water desalination plant, the Ashkelon desalination plant. The project seeks to restore, expand, and operate the plant, which generates 220 million cubic meters of water per year. The new concession arrangement will cover system renovations, new building construction, and operations for an additional 25 years.

Under the new concession, the plant is projected to treble its desalination capacity. The new plant will use cutting-edge technology and sustainable techniques to convert seawater into high-quality fresh water, strengthening Israel’s resilience to drought and future water shortages.
