Qatar and Egypt will host two rounds of talks between Israel and Hamas to negotiate an agreement on a truce in the Gaza Strip, which is currently under Israeli siege and shelling. The talks will include experts from Egypt, Qatar, the United States, Israel, and a Hamas team. The goal is to achieve a truce, swap Palestinian detainees and Israeli hostages, and bring an end to Israel’s war on Gaza, which began on October 7, 2023, with a surprise Hamas invasion. A week-long truce between Israel and Hamas ended in late November 2023, with a transfer of Palestinian captives for Israeli hostages and enhanced humanitarian supplies delivery to Gaza.
