Speaker Devraj Ghimire hopes that Democracy Day would spur economic growth and development in Nepal. He sent a message wishing all Nepali nationals, both locally and abroad, happiness, peace, and success. He said that the constitution has been altered several times and would soon mark ten years in office, and he commended Nepal on its seven-decade effort for institutional improvement of democracy. He pushed for the nation to work toward creating a thriving democracy, justice system, and egalitarian society. He honored the martyrs who lost their lives fighting for democracy and the overthrow of the autocratic government. Although a multi-party system was used to create the federal democratic republic in 2007, Democracy Day has continued to exist. The seventh of February is observed yearly as Democracy Day to honor the successful revolution of 2007.
