The opposition Nepali Congress requested for a postponement of the Koshi state assembly meeting, citing a Supreme Court disagreement over the creation of the Koshi administration. The Congress has stated that the absence of legal process during the establishment of the Koshi administration has not been resolved, and that the state assembly meeting should not take place until the court’s verdict is issued. Congress Chief Whip Gopal Tamang has written to Speaker Amber Bahadur Bista, indicating that Congress will boycott the meeting if it is not called off. The Koshi Pradesh Assembly session began on Baisakh 31 and was highlighted by Chief Minister Hikmat Karki’s quick vote of confidence.
