Nepal’s Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies, Damodar Bhandari, met with Qatari Ambassador to Nepal Misal Mohammad Ali Ansari. Bhandari expressed gratitude to Qatar for hosting the 3rd Summit of the Asian Cooperation Dialogue and praised Qatar’s role in providing employment opportunities for Nepali workers.
Around 367,000 Nepalis are currently working in Qatar, and the establishment of the Nepali Businessmen Association Qatar in 2021 has strengthened economic relations between the two countries. Ansari emphasized the potential for increased cooperation in trade, tourism, and investment, stating that Nepal expects investment from Qatar and the Qatar Fund for Development.
Discussions are underway on a proposed agreement on mutual promotion and protection of investment between Qatar and Nepal. Bhandari also highlighted the need to utilize direct air connectivity for tourism and bilateral trade. Ansari extended a formal invitation to visit Qatar on September 16, emphasizing the need for increased cooperation and exchanges.
