Citing the damage the three-week funding suspension has caused to NGOs and other groups that provide U.S. help abroad, a federal court has ordered the Trump administration to temporarily suspend the ban. The decision marks the second significant defeat for the Trump administration in its efforts to dismantle the U.S. Agency for International Development, which has existed for six decades and is criticized by President Donald Trump and his buddy Elon Musk for being in opposition to their goal.
Due to the funding shutdown, suppliers, contractors, and farmers have been forced to lay off a large number of employees and have not received hundreds of millions of dollars for work that has already been completed. The verdict also prevents Elon Musk and the Trump administration from implementing stop-work orders that have been given to the businesses and organizations that are carrying out foreign aid instructions by Secretary of State Marco Rubio and other Trump officials.
