Ability to resolve transporter issues: Minister Bhandari

Damodar Bhandari, Minister of Industry, Commerce, and Supply, has encouraged the Ministry of Industry to meet the transport industry association’s concerns and request that the Federation of Shipping Traders help to simplify Nepal’s supply system. Bhandari underlined the grievances of shipping businesses who had established a market monopoly and encouraged them to eliminate it. Mahasangh, Mahasangh’s president, requested the government to pay the value-added tax on shipping, which had a direct impact on the sector. The Federation of Shipping Industry urged that it be cancelled since it raised corporate expenses and consumer satisfaction. To address long-term transportation industry issues, the Federation also proposed that transporters be classified and that a method for deducting expenditures while calculating taxable revenue be implemented.
