ADB authorizes a $311 million loan to modernize Nepal’s electrical infrastructure

The $311 million loan was approved by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) on Tuesday to upgrade Nepal’s electrical transmission and distribution infrastructure.

As reported by Xinhua news agency, the ADB stated that the project will fund 290 km of power transmission lines in Nepal and pledged to improve, strengthen, and renovate the infrastructure for energy distribution in pertinent regions.

The Nepal Electricity Authority is also anticipated to benefit from the project by establishing a data recovery center, expanding the smart meter rollout program, upgrading its training center, and putting in place a supervisory control and data gathering network.
