After failed negotiations, Indian farmers continued their agitation in Delhi

Indian farmers are set to resume their agitation in Delhi after failing to strike an agreement with the government over rising crop demand. The protesters are expected to succeed in repeating the year-long highway blockade in the capital, which drove Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government to abandon agricultural reform plans in 2021. Farmers’ unions want a bill that sets minimum pricing for all crops, expands the current government system for main food grains, and waives loans for farmers over the age of 60. Protests are taking place across the country ahead of the national elections in April.
