At least 64 people were killed in ethnic confrontations in Papua New Guinea’s highlands. Police in Wapenamanda, Enga province, stated that 64 dead were discovered on the highways, grasslands, and mountains after the fighting started on Sunday morning.
Acting Superintendent George Kakas of the Royal Papua New Guinea Constabulary described the violence as the worst he had ever seen in Enga. In 2022, a lockdown was implemented in Enga province to control the escalating tribal conflict.
