To commemorate the beginning of the Phagu festival, chir, a sacred emblem, is raised at Basantapur and other places in Kathmandu. On the eighth day of Falgun Shukla Ashtami, the Manandhar community in Kathmandu has set up a vibrant flag at Basantapur. Additionally, chir has been built at Patan’s Krishna Mandir neighborhood, Pashupati, and Sundari Chowk. In hilly regions, Phagu is celebrated on Falgun 29; in Terai and Madhesh, it is celebrated on Chaitra 1.
