On Tuesday, Hungary’s President Tamas Sulyok signed legislation ratifying Sweden’s entry to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO).
“President of the Republic Tamas Sulyok, today signed the decision made by the National Assembly on Feb 26, 2024, regarding Sweden’s accession to NATO,” according to the president’s office.
The president’s signature was required to put into effect a bill passed by Hungary’s parliament.
Hungary is the last of the 31 NATO member countries to approve Sweden’s application to join the military alliance. Sweden will officially join the alliance as the 32nd member at its next summit in Washington, DC, in July.
