India has decided to close its airspace to Pakistani aircraft due to rising tensions following the Pahalgam attack. The ban will be in effect from May 1 to May 23.
The Airports Authority of India (AAI) issued a note stating that Indian airspace will not be available to aircraft operated by Pakistani airlines and Pakistani military aircraft. There are no direct flights between India and Pakistan, but Pakistani airlines use Indian airspace for flights to Singapore, Malaysia, and other East Asian countries.
India took several steps against Pakistan on April 23, including suspending the Indus Waters Treaty, closing the only land border crossing at Attari, and downgrading diplomatic relations. In response, Pakistan closed its airspace to Indian aircraft and suspended all trade with India through third countries.
