Kathmandu Metropolitan City Mayor Balen Shah has resigned. Mayor Shah submitted his resignation to Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol. Dangol said, “Yes, his resignation has arrived. He has submitted it to me.” Dangol has accepted his resignation in accordance with Article 216 (8) (a) of the Constitution of Nepal.

In his resignation letter, Balen stated that he has resigned voluntarily with effect from Sunday. Stating that he has worked as honestly as possible for the benefit of the metropolis and its residents while in office, he also wished the future leadership of the metropolis.
