Mexico and Canada announce retaliatory tariffs against the US

After the US imposed levies on Mexican imports, Canada and Mexico responded by imposing retaliatory tariffs on the US. In order to protect her nation’s interests, Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum directed her Economy Minister to enact both tariff and non-tariff measures. Drinks and appliances made in the US will be subject to 25% tariffs from Canada. Premier Justin Trudeau of Mexico reduced tariffs on US products worth C$155 billion ($107 billion), with charges on the remaining C$125 billion to be imposed in 21 days and tariffs on C$30 billion to go into force on Tuesday. Trump’s tariffs, according to Trudeau, would harm Americans, increase prices, and make it more difficult to obtain reasonably priced necessities. Canada is taking into account non-tariff measures pertaining to energy procurement, essential minerals, and other collaborations.
