Security forces in Bangladesh have detained 1,308 individuals as part of “Operation Devil Hunt” in response to four days of violence and damage across the country. Under the leadership of Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, the interim administration has promised to keep up the crackdown until “all devils” are gone. After student activists were hurt during vandalism at an Awami League leader’s home, the operation was started. In the 24 hours since the operation began, 274 persons have been detained by joint forces, which include army personnel, police, and specialist groups. After a fight broke out in Gazipur, which sparked Operation Devil Hunt, 81 members of the Awami League, the party of ousted Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, were taken into custody. Operation Devil Hunt would target people who want to destabilize the nation, according to Home Affairs Advisor Md. Jahangir Alam Chowdhury.
