Kathmandu, June 9: Members in the National Assembly (NA) have alleged that tax rates were altered in the budget speech for the upcoming fiscal year 2083-84 BS, demanding an investigation into the matter. Taking time in a session of the upper house today, they voiced for the formation a committee to probe the allegations. Lawmaker Tul Prasad Bishwakarama said media reports have claimed that 16 pages were removed from the Finance Bill within in 24 hours of its presentation in parliament and that a revised version was subsequently issued. He demanded a thorough investigation into the matter with its clarification. Renu Chand accused the role of Finance Minister Swarnim Wagle in such changes, seeking the investigation into it. Similarly, Narayan Datta Mishra and Meena Singh Rakhal demanded replies from Prime Minister Balendra Shah regarding his statement on Nepal-India relations.
