The Nepali Congress is set to submit a list of 20 names from those on the proportional representation closed list to the Election Commission. Party Spokesperson Devraj Chalise informed that the party’s executive committee meeting held on Sunday decided to submit the recommended names to the Commission today itself.
It was decided to send names of 6 from Indigenous Nationalities, 6 from Khas-Arya, and one each from Tharu, Dalit, Madhesi, Muslim, and Backward Regions, totaling 5 names. Spokesperson Chalise stated that the names of three others will also be sent after adjusting the clusters.
He mentioned that the names of 15 women among them will be mandatorily sent to the Commission. The Election Commission had instructed them to submit names based on the quota of parliamentary seats determined by the votes received in the proportional representation category. Congress also stated that the Commission itself will publicize the names they submit.
Spokesperson Chalise added that the upcoming Central Committee meeting will conduct a full review of the election and publicize the party’s stance.
