Writer of a letter to the American Embassy requesting a US visa interview, Deputy Speaker Indira Rana Magar, has been accused of abusing her authority. She was protected by opposition MPs, despite the ruling party’s objection to the letter. While Madhav Sapkota of the CPN-Maoist Center supported Magar, claiming it was organized because of the ruling party’s minority in the Constitutional Council, Nepali Congress MP Ramhari Khatiwada called for a probe into the letter’s reason. The media trial under Magar’s name, according to Rashtriya Swatantra Party MP Sumana Shrestha, is why she is being defended. Damodar Paudel Bairagi, a member of the CPN-UML, stated that the letter speaks for itself and that when Nepalis died in Israel, Russia, and India, no one expressed sympathy.
