Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba has given the responsibility of acting president to Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka, effective from Tuesday. Addressing the Central Working Committee meeting held at the central office, Sanepa, Deuba said that he has given the responsibility of acting president to Vice President Khadka. He made Khadka the acting president and is going to Singapore for further treatment.
Deuba, who was treated for 12 stitches on the back of his head after being beaten during the Gen-G movement, listed the work he had done when he first went public. A central member said that he had already made Deuba the acting president through that address and informed that he would go to Singapore for treatment.
Deuba gave Khadka the acting president while delivering the inaugural address of the party’s first central working committee meeting after the Gen-G rebellion. “Due to my health, I have designated party Vice President Purna Bahadur Khadka to work as the acting president. I am confident that he will work in the larger interest of the party,” Deuba said.
Addressing the Congress leaders, he said that the interim government led by Sushila Karki is not willing to cooperate with the parties. “There is no need for conflict in the country anymore. The party should be united according to the new situation that has developed in the country,” he said. “It has been proposed to hold the 15th general convention by strengthening the internal life of the party. We need to cooperate with other political parties in the current situation.”
