The Kathmandu Metropolitan City has demanded that residents remove the area within a week in order to protect the confiscated (government) property in the Lalita Niwas region of Ward No. 4 Baluwatar.
According to the special court’s verdict, because the land belongs to the government, the metropolitan has ordered that individuals, corporations, and organizations in the Lalita Niwas neighborhood vacate within seven days. Deepak Adhikari, Assistant Spokesperson for the Metropolitan Corporation, stated that the Metropolitan Corporation has also been asked to assist in the safeguarding and good administration of government properties.
According to him, Section 97(1) of Chapter 13 of the Local Government Operations the Act of 2074, under the provisions relating to the protection of local level property, assigns legal responsibility to the Metropolitan City to maintain, maintain, and manage government, community, and public property within the Kathmandu Metropolitan City area, and thus requests that Lalita Niwas be vacated.
Similarly, the Metropolitan Corporation has issued a public notice stating that if they do not leave the area within the set time, they will be removed in accordance with the applicable legislation, and government land and property will be preserved, maintained, and appropriately managed.
