Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) lawmakers Sumana Shrestha and Sobita Gautam have been charged by Speaker Devraj Ghimire’s secretariat of using social media and the media to exert pressure. Ghimire’s press advisor, Shekhar Adhikari, chastised the parliamentarians for their self-centeredness and for failing to consider other viewpoints. Adhikari maintained that the Speaker had reviewed the matter with the Law Minister, Deputy Speaker, and top whips of the five major parties, and that an emergency problem could not remain an emergency issue after the law was enacted. Adhikari underlined that the Speaker will keep looking at party understandings, rules, regulations, and practices.
