In response to the farmers’ protest, the Delhi Police have strengthened security in the city. An order has been issued prohibiting meetings of five or more people starting Monday. Heavy security has been deployed at the interstate borders around Delhi, where hundreds of farmers are seen sitting on dharnas on the roadways at entry and departure points, suffering the chilly winter.
Farmers have made a variety of requests, including an increase in the minimum support price for their crops, a pension for farmers and agricultural workers, a forgiveness of agricultural loans, the dismissal of police investigations related to previous agitations, and so on.
They stated that over 200 farmer associations from various states will join in the demonstration, which will be held in Delhi on Tuesday. Meanwhile, talks reportedly have begun between the farmers’ union and a group of government officials to resolve the issue.
