The Australia-ASEAN summit was held in Melbourne

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has invited Southeast Asian leaders to Melbourne for a special summit commemorating ASEAN’s 50th year of cooperation. The 2024 ASEAN-Australia Special Summit will prioritize economic engagement, clean energy transition, marine cooperation, and emerging leaders.
The conference will also include Timor-Leste’s leader, who has decided to join as its 11th member in November 2022. ASEAN is Australia’s second-largest two-way trading relationship, after China. The three-day meeting will be place from Monday to Wednesday.
