NASA has issued a warning over the potential threat posed by solar storms to space stations, electrical networks, and satellites. Strong charged particles in the storm, which is headed towards Earth, have the ability to disable electrical equipment and impede radio or GPS signals. There are presently three distinct coronal mass ejections (CMEs) approaching Earth; the third and last CME is traveling at over 1,000 km/s (2.2 million mph). The planet and its surroundings may be significantly impacted by the radiation from these storms.

Solar storms, also referred to as geomagnetic storms, have been documented in history; in 1989, power was lost in Quebec City, and in 1859, electricity was lost throughout America. Satellites circling the Earth have a higher influence than radio transmissions, energy grids, and communication signals, which are all affected most by severe storms. Three CMEs, the most intense of which is an X1.3-class flare, are presently approaching Earth, according to the space agency. It is anticipated that the storm will make landfall in three or four days, resulting in radio blackouts, GPS network jamming, and mobile phone interference.
