Tribhuvan International Airport, a busy airport, has experienced a surge in both local and international airline traffic and passengers. In the fiscal year 2079/80, the airport generated Rs. 11.38 billion in revenue, with a target of Rs. 13 billion for the current year. The airport is functioning at full capacity, with an increase in international flight passengers and revenue as a result of overall airport improvements. Revenue is generated by passenger service costs, hotel and shutter fees, ship landings, and bus prices.
The airport received Rs 2.46 billion in 2077/78, which reduced due to Covid-19. Following Covid, the airport is operating at full capacity. In 2023, the number of aviation passengers climbed by 9.2%, with 7,954,495 people flying both domestically and abroad Domestic air travelers totaled 41 lakh 50 thousand 326.
Previously, 71 lakh 90 thousand 912 passengers flew by air in 2018 and 73 lakh 27 thousand 31 in 2019. Nepal currently has bilateral air service agreements with 42 countries, with the most recent signing taking place on January 23rd between Nepal and Switzerland.
