Ukraine cannot join NATO amid the crisis – Netherland

Due to the ongoing war with Russia, Dutch Prime Minister Mark Rutte has ruled out Ukraine’s membership in NATO. He stressed the need of learning from the European Union’s strategy of executing intermediate phases rather than a complete membership process. Rutte said that Ukraine’s prior membership concerns had left them unhappy and advised against overpromising. Ukraine applied to NATO’s Membership Action Plan in 2008, establishing membership as a major foreign policy aim.
