Dennis Francis, the president of the UNGA, and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi met in Beijing. Wang, a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, highlighted China’s backing for the UN Charter and multilateralism. He stressed China’s dedication to the UN’s pivotal role in world governance as well as the active involvement of the UN General Assembly in compliance with the UN Charter. In addition, Wang commended UN Resolution 2758 for upholding the one-China policy. Francis acknowledged China’s efforts to maintain peace and he was willing to work with Beijing more closely to tackle global issues.
