A Nepali women’s team has left Kathmandu to raise awareness about climate change-induced mountain melting and its impact on rural people. The team of 25 women from all sectors will walk from Lukla to Kalapathar to discuss the Himalayan community’s concerns. The event will be part of the United Nations’ International Women’s Day 2024 activities, themed ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’. The team will speak with local representatives and communities about the effects of climate change and possible solutions. The United Nations is also marking the occasion with the theme ‘Invest in Women: Accelerate Progress’.
