Buddhists flock to Swayambhunath area, Buddha’s relics kept for darshan

Today, the 2,569th Buddha Jayanti is being celebrated by organizing various programs including worship at Buddhist stupas, monasteries and monasteries across the country, including Lumbini, the birthplace of Buddha. The Swayambhunath area, which is listed on the World Heritage List, has also been inundated with Buddhists and the general public since this morning. Special prayers will be offered at the Buddha temple at Swayambhunath Mahachaitya today on the occasion of Buddha Jayanti.

Today, high-ranking dignitaries of the Nepal government, Buddhist religious leaders, monks, heads and officials of diplomatic missions, and distinguished guests from various countries are scheduled to offer prayers in the Swayambhunath area.

Buddha’s relics are kept for worship and darshan at Anandakuti Vihara inside the Swayambhunath complex, informed Bhikkhu Dharmamurthy, Chairman of the Swayambhunath Management and Conservation Mahasamiti. The Buddha’s relics are kept for public viewing only on the day of Buddha Jayanti. A public Buddhist assembly has been organized in the afternoon. It is said that various worship, blood donation and prasad distribution programs will be held in the Swayambhunath area.
