The newly elected chairmen of ten and two joint committees of the House of Representatives have taken the oath of office and secrecy today. They took the oath before Speaker of the House of Representatives Dol Prasad (DP) Aryal at a program organized at the Federal Parliament Secretariat in Singha Durbar.
Deputy Speaker Ruby Kumari Thakur, Minister for Law, Justice and Social Affairs Sobita Gautam, Vice-President of the National Assembly Leela Kumari Bhandari, office bearers of parliamentary parties of political parties and others were present at the swearing-in ceremony.
Among the newly elected members, Dr. Krishnahari Budhathoki has been elected as the Chairman of the Finance Committee, Sumnima Udas as the Chairman of the International Relations and Tourism Committee, Rahabar Ansari as the Chairman of the Industry and Commerce and Labor and Consumer Welfare Committee, Samiksha Baskota as the Chairman of the Law, Justice and Human Rights Committee, Hari Dhakal as the Chairman of the State Affairs and Good Governance Committee, and Bharat Bahadur Khadka as the Chairman of the Public Accounts Committee. Similarly, Akriti Awasthi has been elected to the Women and Social Affairs Committee, Ashish Gajurel to the Infrastructure Development Committee, and Ashok Chaudhary to the Chairman of the Agriculture, Cooperatives and Natural Resources Committee.
Dr. Ojaswi Sherchan has been elected to the Chairman of the Education, Health and Information Technology Committee, Bodh Narayan Shrestha to the Chairman of the Joint Committee Parliamentary Hearing Committee, and Ganesh Karki to the Chairman of the State Director Principles, Policies and Responsibilities Implementation Monitoring and Evaluation Committee. After two candidates each were nominated to the Education Committee and the State Director, the RSP candidate was elected based on voice vote. The meeting of the committee to select the chairperson was chaired by the senior member of the concerned committee.
Out of the 12 elected chairpersons, 11 were elected as MPs from the National Independent Party and Khadka from the opposition Nepali Congress was elected as the Chairman of the Accounts Committee. The newly elected chairpersons also assumed office at their committee offices today.
