Holi rule breakers to be stopped on roads all day

Security arrangements have been tightened in Kathmandu Valley in view of the Holi festival. Traffic check campaign has been intensified in all three districts of the valley – Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur – since this morning, informed Kathmandu Valley Traffic Police Office Chief and Senior Superintendent of Police Binod Ghimire.

According to him, this time, not only traffic action will be taken, but they will be stopped on the roads all day to prevent them from celebrating Holi.

He said, “Anyone who violates the rules will be taken to the traffic check point, and their vehicles will be stopped at the same place for the whole day.”

For that, more than 120 check points have been designated and police have been mobilized in the valley. The traffic police and the Janpath police have jointly launched a check campaign. They have been mobilized jointly at every place and the necessary equipment and teams have been deployed jointly for the consumption of alcohol and drugs.

The police have requested people to play Holi only with their close friends and acquaintances. They have requested that Holi be celebrated in a manner that enhances mutual brotherhood and in a harmonious and cultural manner.

Similarly, the Kathmandu, Lalitpur and Bhaktapur administration offices have also requested people to play Holi in a dignified manner and have stated that legal action will be taken against those who play Holi in a disorderly manner.

Today, Holi is played in the hilly districts including the Kathmandu Valley, while tomorrow it is customary to play Holi in the Terai. In some districts, Holi is played for two days.
