Police in India’s northern state of Haryana killed a teenage farmer and wounded many others after firing rubber bullets and tear gas at protesting farmers. The event occurred at Khanauri, a border crossing between Punjab and Haryana, roughly 121 kilometers from New Delhi. The police disputed the charges, and the other two patients, who looked to have been shot, are in severe condition but cannot be confirmed. Bhagwant Mann, Punjab’s Chief Minister, announced the death. Farmers renewed their protest in New Delhi after rejecting the government’s offer to buy pulses, maize, and cotton crops at a minimum security price for the next five years. The federal government of India has encouraged farmers to preserve peace and is prepared to host the fifth round of negotiations over a solution.
